-Application of the equilibrium method for the structural analysis;
-evaluation of the stiffness matrix for hyperstatic structures;
-foundation structures with plinth and oak beams;
-the actions on steel and R.C. structures (permanent, snow and wind, not earthquake);
-design of steel structures;
-design of reinforced concrete structures based on NTC 2008 Standards (chap. 4).

Learning Objectives
The course aims at the training of technicians able to design simple structural elements constituting steel and reinforced concrete buildings.
Prerequisites
To support the exam, the student must have supported the examinations of Meccanica razionale and -scienza delle costruzioni.
Teaching Methods
Two projects must be drawn up, one consisting of a steel shed and another in a R.C. building of at least three floors.
Type of Assessment
The final examination is composed by two tests of which the one written, consisting in the resolution of an exercise of theory of structures, the other is an oral discussion of the elaborate graphs. In this last part it should be verified the theoretical knowledge acquired during the course.
